Event details

Imagine a world where children and families can grow up feeling confident in their bodies and develop a positive relationship with food. In today’s society, we are bombarded with messages that make us question our self-worth and body image, leading to increasing rates of body dissatisfaction and eating disorders, especially among young people in New Zealand. But together, we can change that narrative and create a better future for ourselves and the next generation.

This workshop offers practical, compassionate strategies to help families dismantle diet culture and grow a healthy, positive relationship with food and their bodies. You’ll gain tools to support both yourself and your children in developing resilience and confidence, so everyone can thrive in the face of life’s challenges.

During the workshop, we will explore:

  • How diet culture impacts body image and how to break free from it for both adults and children.

  • The influence of social media and other external factors on body image, and strategies to help young people navigate these pressures.

  • Why diets don’t work and sustainable alternatives to foster lifelong healthy behaviors.

  • How parents and caregivers can be positive role models by reflecting on their own attitudes towards food and body image.

  • Practical tips for cultivating positive eating habits and a healthy body image for the whole family.

  • What to do if you’re concerned about your child’s weight in a way that promotes health without harm.

  • Mindful and intuitive eating practices that benefit everyone in the family.

  • How to recognize early signs of disordered eating and where to turn for advice and support.

Bonus Extras:

  • Access a guide to body-positive resources for your child.

  • Dedicated time in the workshop to focus on your individual family goals.

  • The opportunity to ask burning nutrition and body image questions from one of New Zealand’s leading experts in family feeding.

Join us in taking a step towards creating a world where children and adults alike feel good about their bodies and food choices. Together, we can shift the narrative for the better and sow the seeds of body confidence for future generations.

Equity-Based Ticketing Policy for The Body Image Workshop: Cultivating Body Confidence

At The Food Tree, we believe in making our workshops accessible to everyone while also ensuring that those who have the means to pay more can support those with less financial flexibility. To achieve this, we are offering a tiered ticketing system that allows participants to select a pricing tier based on their financial situation and recent holiday experiences.

Please select the tier that best reflects your current circumstances:

Tier 1: Overseas Holiday Pricing

For individuals or families who have taken or are planning to take an overseas holiday this year. By choosing Tier 1, you are helping to subsidise the costs for those who are in less financially stable situations. Your support ensures that more families can access this important workshop.

Tier 2: Domestic Holiday Pricing

For individuals or families who have taken or are planning a holiday within their home country this year. This mid-tier option reflects moderate financial flexibility while still ensuring the workshop remains affordable for those who might need extra support.

Tier 3: No Holiday Pricing

For individuals or families who have not been able to take a holiday this year, either domestically or internationally, due to financial constraints. We want to ensure that everyone has the opportunity to attend, regardless of their financial situation. This lower-cost ticket is designed to keep the workshop accessible for those with limited financial resources.

Here's what other parents are saying...

I’m a huge fan of The Food Tree and their approach to body image and fostering a positive relationship with food. They’re informative, knowledgeable, helpful, and gentle. I’ve attended several of their workshops, and each time I leave with new tools to create a positive environment for my children around body image and self-acceptance.

    Gemma Vergo

I learned so much from the workshop! Thank you. I feel much more relaxed about how I approach body image discussions with my kids, and they seem more confident in their own skin.
